Movies
One major difference between the life of a MBA student and others is the number of movies watched by each. The ratio is usually 10:1 for movie buffs like me.
2 months into an MBA course and I have lost count of the number of movies and sitcoms I have seen lately. As if it is our duty to watch atleast 6-7 movies per week. People share 200 - 250 gb of movies. Any movie is available at the click of a mouse. Once I saw the entire 3 seasons of "How I met your Mother" in 1 week flat.
Some of the movies I saw lately and what I thought about them
TAXI DRIVER - Had heard great reviews of this Robert De Niro movie from others so decided to watch it. Half an hour into the movie, I realised that this was not my kind of movie. Agreed, De Niro is awesome as Travis the lonely Taxi-driver and even young Jodie foster does a good appearance as Iris, but still it failed to click for me. Maybe, because in a movie, I like something to happen all the time. Some parts of the movie I couldn't understand at all. Like why does Travis drop the plans of killing Palantine after the first try, and what motivated him in the first place to try to assassinate him. Maybe it is something very highly complicated psychology that the director is bringing in and it is not for some dumber like me. All said and done, I would recommend this movie to only those who have a liking towards serious, arty movies. Others, see it only for De Niro. What an Actor!!!!
JUNO- Saw this simple, cool movie just today. Initially I had apprehensions about watching this movie coz it involved teenage pregnancy and I felt it would be all soapy. But I was proved wrong. What a different way to treat such a controversial subject.. A refreshing change from the usual line of movies. Ellen Page the protagonist of the movie plays Juno, a 16 year old girl who accidentally gets pregnant. She decides not to abort the baby but instead decides to give it up for adoption. The manner in which the girl and her parents take the news of pregnancy is treated in a quite funny way. They are quite cool about it and there are none of the usual tears and heartbreaks. Ellen page does a brilliant job as Juno and she deserved the Oscar Nomination she got for this movie. The songs in the beginning and end are also quite hummable. A must watch....
Bachchna Ae Haseeno: Watch it for Ranbir Kapoor's antics. Whenever he is on screen, he carries the scene on his shoulders. Some songs are good. Minissha Lamba as Mahii is very cuuuuute.
Enough for now. Will come up with some more in a future post. Have been trying to tone down this film watching habit of mine, but have not been successful as yet. Any suggestions???

what else you do other than watching movies??
After hearing the conversation about dramatic changes in US by Palantine (In TV interview with one of the reporter),
Travis thinks of clearing him also along with other scums in NY. But, why he dropped the plan is still a mystery ;-)
