A Review

One of the subjects I have in my first term of MBA is OCPS(Oral Communication and Presentation Skills). The peculiarity of this subject is that it is one of the few subjects you can Faff your way to good marks. It has various exercises like group presentation, public speaking, book review etc. This particular incident happened in today's class.
We were having book review session. People were coming one by one, giving reviews for their chosen books. They were all praises for their books. Not that many negative points about their books.
Then came this guy, he usually remains quite in the class. Appeared nervous as he came to give his review, his hands shaking. No one expected anything different.

His book was "Three mistakes of my life" by Chetan Bhagat.
He started normally like others with an introduction about the author, his past books, the story in brief and some good points about the book. Then came something which was completely unexpected. I would like to quote the exact words he used.

" As far as I am concerned, the book is not at all a good read. The book does not match up to his previous books. There is very less of humour. Things get boring after sometime. The title is a misleading one. It is used primarily as a marketing ploy to attract readers. Out of the 3 mistakes the author talks about, 2 were not great mistakes as such, everyone makes such mistakes.
The third mistake he talks about - well it does not become a mistake as he does it again and again. "

All this time, he was speaking with the same poker faced nervous expression, which made it all the more funny. The whole class along with the teacher burst out into laughter. When everything settled down, the teacher remarked " That was an good way to make a review interesting. Be brutally honest and funny. Even if you are nervous the audience will not notice it."

Ha Ha Ha.

Visited the Amitabh Bachchan blog recently. The man does have large amount of free time it seems. I mean, writing about 2-3 blog daily, that too lengthy detailed blogs surely requires some time. And he has to read through all the comments. On top of this he does all these movies. Talk of stamina at old age....

Till Next Time
