I don't studddy coz I am already a studd.

With new terms starting, am getting to meet new proffs.

There is this one prof, who in a lecture of one and a half hour, makes us laugh almost one hour...

Some of his gems..
-
"What's happening to the world nowadays? People have started sending even wedding invitations scanned by mail. Where's the true sense of belonging you get when someone invites you personally?"

US - So what do you do in such a situation sir?

"Nothing, I too scan a  500 rs note and send it back to him."

-
"When some student says Good Morning to me, I don't reply by saying " Good Morning". I simply say Like-wise."

Why sir?

"Coz one never knows, what other swear words the students have muttered before and after the good morning."

It is really getting busy nowadays.. That's why my visits to blogdom have also reduced significantly.. But now I have kinda gotten addicted to it.. So can't be absent for too long..

The Greatest Hindi movie ever??

Am back after a week long break.. Exams do take a hell lot out you.. After the chatting, movie watching & finally studying, there is no time for blogging.

Well coming to the actual topic of the post..

No, no it is not a review of "Rock On", I have not seen the movie yet..

Well, just watched a movie - or part of a movie I should say. Had heard great reviews about it from my fellow college mates..

10 Minutes into the movie and I realised that I had to write a review for this movie.

10 Minutes? U say... How can one write a review about 10 minutes...  I realised that the movie was so great that it deserved many more reviews.. Mind you I have not yet watched it fully.. Got to enjoy it slowly...

I don't think anybody could have guessed the movie name. The movie is "Gunda" by the great KANTI SHAH starring our very own national award winner " Mithunda".

How should I start??

I would restrict myself here to the first 10 minutes of the movie here.

The first thing which struck me about the movie is the extensive character profiling of each of the characters - especially the villains. Each character makes an entry with an awe-inspiring dialogue which aptly describes him.. Sample these

" Mera Naam hai Bulla, rakhta hu mai Khulla" - n he actually does have change!!!

"Mera Naam hai Pote, Jo apne Baap ke Bhi na Hote" - the true character of a super villain..

"Mera Naam hai Chandu Hatela, Maa meri chudail ki beti,
Baap Mera Shaitaan ka Chela, Khayega Kela??"             - how lyrical and yet descriptive

In which other movie in Indian History would you find so many power-packed dialogues within the first 10 minutes..

And the acting displayed by all the actors!!! I am surprised why this movie didn't make it to the Oscar list from India...

Some wonderful scenes -
The dance of madness done by one of the villains just before his death,
the entry scene of Mithun, where he a coolie suddenly appears on an airport runway (do airports have coolies??),
the grief of both the villains at the death of their siblings.

Cant't stop the tears from my eyes remembering the last scene...

The vast locations for shooting -
The major scenes happen on an airport runway, all the people somehow reach the runway every 5 minutes or so.

And I don't even want to start about the story and spoil the fun for you... Go get a pirated print and watch the movie...

I hope to give a more comprehensive review after watching the movie fully. I will watch it only when I am in the mood for comprehending some truly fascinating and great movie experience..

Why so sleepy?????

You guys know what is the most sleep inducing - soporific thing in this world ???

No, it is not sleeping pills, nor it is some slow art film. No even a lullaby cant match up to it.

Well, it is the moment - one week before the exam, when u take a book in your hands and start studying...  Believe me it is true.

I being a regular student during the school days was not afflicted with this problem.
It was only when college life began n I realised the advantages of not studying regularly, that this really started troubling me..

Here is the case..

U only have a week or so n u have to complete 7 or more subjects.. U start with the determination that whatever happens I am not going to be distracted, I will study with all my heart.. For the first 15-20 minutes it is ok..
Then the dark clouds of sleep start enveloping you.. Words began to appear blurred to you.. You try to resist it.. You wash you face with water..

But it doesnt seem to help.. The clouds are too dense.. But ur resolve is strong..

You start walking and studying.. Initially it helps but then the strongest of beings fall to this obstacle.. The feeling of a short nap and the nice things associated with it begin to cloud everything else.. You begin to think, what the hell, I have studied for more than an hour, I deserve a short nap... I will not sleep for more than an hour.

You set the alarm for an hour thinking you will study after that.. But no - "Aadmi jo sochta hai woh hamesha nahi hota". One hour after, the alarm is switched off, n u again fall of into that peaceful existence.. When u get up afterwards, u realise that the exams are more close n u have not completed even that single page u had started..

U say "Jo ho gaya, woh ho gaya, abhi to mai choduga nahi, padhna hi hai kuch bhi karke".

U start with a fresh mind, but again the cycle continues.. U remember Joker from Batman n begin to feel  "WHY SO SLEEPY?"

This author tried indulging in other activities like watching movies - his favourite pastime. The soporific effects of these activities were almost nill. He could go on hours without falling asleep..

So my friends. For those people suffering from insomnia, here is a perfect antidote for it.. Effective all the time.

Where are the rains???

As I type here on my laptop, it is raining cats and dogs outside my window. It is the first real, heavy rain of the season for me.. It has been nearly three months since I have shifted to Gurgaon, but I have not had the taste of a real downpour. I have not even bought a raincoat or an umbrella.

I begin to think that this is a regular feature here in this part of India. But no, say localites, it has never been like this before. And as I enquire with my friends from other parts of India, it is the same situation there also.

Growing up in Gujarat, one of the main points of the year used to be the heavy rains and the flooding caused by them. The thrill of riding a bike through the potholed streets in heavy rain, with your specs covered with water, with the result that you can't see anything ahead, is something.
Pushing your bike through knee deep water, the first rain bath, the holidays in school due to the heavy rains, sipping tea along with "Bhajiya", the big frogs that used to suddenly come out from somewhere during their rains and their croaks that filled the nights, the fireflies that used to collect near every tubelight, the occassional rainbows, the visits to the city river to watch it overflow, the fresh smell of earth after the first rain, I miss them all... Where are the rains???

I have had no romantic flings until now but I am sure that even if I had one, it would have had some memories associated with rain.. No wonder the rains are a favourite with the Bollywood crowd..

I would have composed a ode to the rains, but my limited, extremely limited poetic abilities prevent me from committing such a disaster.

Meanwhile the rains have reduced to a drizzle and I find from my window that 1 or 2 couples have come out to enjoy the rains....  But still...

And by the way,  Pichle Saat Dino mai maine 2 pen, 1 pair of socks aur 1 study handout hai khoya. :)
